My Skinny Kid Memory Introduces a Killer Muscle Building Program

Hey Gang!

I’ve got an awesome Muscle Building Program to tell you about, but first, I want to share the story of how I actually started with weight training…

Growing up I was involved with sports, but I was a very skinny kid and even got teased about it.  I remember another kid saying one day on the way home from school “Hey Andy… be careful you don’t blow away with the wind!”

Or at another time (it was actually during my very first time in a gym) the weight room instructor of all people said to me “I’ve seen bigger legs on a chicken!”

If anyone could be called a ‘Hard Gainer’ I sure was qualified.  I remember thinking… “That’s it!  I gotta get HUGE!”

So I read every issue of ‘Muscle and Fitness’, ‘Muscle Mag’ and ‘Muscular Development’ I could get my hands on.  I put on a bit of muscle in high school but never really saw the kind of results that I was seeking.  I was actually fairly knowledgeable about what to do, but I just didn’t always apply that knowledge.

Remember… “Knowledge is not Power.  Applied Knowledge is.”

So by the end of high school I had bulked up to a whopping 160 lbs!  Actually, that wasn’t too bad, considering I only weighed 130 lbs in grade 10.

Then, after high school, my working out went by the way side as I was more interested in playing guitar in a band, girls, and my corvette.  Man, I miss that car!  However, the late nights playing in a band, lack of workouts, and not eating nearly enough healthy food sent my weight dropping, making me a skinny 150 lb kid again.

But it didn’t take long before I got bitten by the bug to hit the weights again!  Strangely enough, it took being embarrassed with my body, but more frustratingly, being brushed off by this girl who I had really big crush on.  She had started seeing another guy who was built like an ox!

Nothing like getting an external motivational kick in the ass!

This time I was ready.  I was focused.  And I knew what I had to do and was disciplined enough to do it!

Armed with a good foundation of knowledge and a burning desire to GET BIG, at the age of 21 I was back in the gym.

Here’s the interesting part — Because of my past experience with the weights, I was able to dig right into an effective weight training routine and avoid beginner mistakes!  That was the key!  I was also probably about 10 lbs under a healthier body weight than I could have been at if I was eating better at the time.  However, despite that, I was still able to pack on 30 lbs in the first 6 months of training!

There are many debates about how much muscle someone can build up naturally in a year.  Everyone has their own opinion on it.  Well, I can tell you first hand, by only supplementing via protein powder and some creatine monohydrate, I proved a lot of those opposing claims wrong!  In just 6 months I went from 150 lbs to 180 lbs, and I gotta say it was most solid body weight I ever had.

Then, over the next 5 years, I lived the bodybuilding lifestyle, and bulked up further to 200 lbs.  I then dieted down to a ripped 173 lbs and entered my first competition, taking second place in the ‘2001 Provincial Bodybuilding Championships’!

However, it was around this time that more personal trouble began.  Because of a change in jobs (where I was less active) and maybe because I was getting a little older and my metabolism was slowing down, I ended up chunking out!

I was still weight training, and I got stronger, but my eating habits were terrible!  Lots of protein, but too much fast food and junk!  I also despised cardio on that boring old treadmill.  My weight crept up to just over 230 lbs and it sure wasn’t all muscle!

It seemed that I knew what I had to do to get lean for a competition, but unless there was that goal on the horizon, I couldn’t stick to a plan to stay in shape.  What was the point of being ripped for a few weeks every other year if I didn’t like how I looked almost all of the time in between?  Dieting down from 230+ lbs to 176 lbs was hell, BTW!

Following my second competion in 2004, again taking second place, I decided to change my ways.  I wanted not only to look good, but to also get my health and cardio back.  I decided to do some boxing for change… and it paid off!  Let me tell you… it sure was fun staying lean year round after that for a change!

The boxing was a lot more fun then just sticking to the boring old cardio machines, and it became this style of circuit workout that turned into the first idea for WARRIOR BUILT!

The next time I entered a bodybuilding competition was in 2006.  The difference this time was that I was already fairly lean when I started getting ready for the show.  Twelve weeks later, in the best condition of my life, I won the ‘Overall Provincial Title’!

I now continue to stay lean year round with my Warrior Built style routines, plus some other weight training to build that additional muscle when desired.

Some of my clients use the Warrior Built Workouts by itself, to build that lean, muscular, fighter’s type physique.  While others, who want some extra muscle, combine the Warrior Built workouts with some other weight training routine.  I even have some clients who have weight trained for years but swear by the Warrior Built workouts to finally get ripped.

Having helped dozens of bodybuilding competitors and 100s of clients build a ripped, muscular physique, as well as through my own transformation from skinny kid to ‘Provincial Bodybuilding Champion’, in the near future I plan on combining the best of my experience into a muscle building program called ‘Bones to Built’.  This is a project for me in 2010…
